I have tried to install EGit from update site here: http://www.eclipse.org/egit/download/

There are at least two versions, From Main Site and the Bleeding Edge.
I have first tried the main. After flawless installation I was promoted to restart and I deed.

I got:
[v] [Help->About->Installation details -> Installed Software]: Eclipse EGit, Eclipse JGit
[v] [Help->About->Installation details -> Plugins]: Nothing from Eclipse EGit Provider, no plugin named “Git * …”
[v] No EGit view
[v] No share option for Git repo

I have tried some re-installations and used the revert function of Eclipse to return to the previous configuration state

  • [Help->About->Installation details -> Installation History [Revert] ]

Nothing seemed to work on Galileo.

Then I got the all new Helios in used the Helios Site: http://download.eclipse.org/releases/helios.
And it works now! I got correct plugin entries, etc…

The only thing i seem to miss is Icons for operations in Team Menu.

[i] REMARK:
For older versions, old update-site seems to solve many issues. Although you will miss new features, etc…
