After Installation of TortoiseSVN, Windows Explorer becomes slow, often freezes, takes minutes to refresh? Remember, that TortoiseSVN integrates into explorer, thus it actually talks to the svn server any time you happen to open the directory. Don’t want that? Switch it off!
Works for:
TortoiseSVN Clinet for Windows version 1.6.8
Windows XP
Should also work for:
most TortoiseSVN Clients on most Windows platforms
| 1 |
- Open explorer
- Right mouse click -> TortoiseSvn -> Settings
- Choose “Icon Overlays”
| 2 |
Disable status update
Stop TortoiseSvn from automatic status request for all files against the server.
Make sure it looks like on the screenshot –>
- Status cache = none
- All checkboxes are disabled
That’s it, hope it helps as it helped me
P.S. There may be more places to turn things off. Let me know if something else needs to be done.
